I read a quote the other day that basically explained how life was about living and experiencing things, and doing things as opposed to buying things, and how you should do cooler things with your money. Things that create memories.
This got me thinking about what I spend my money on.
So, I decided to go on an adventure (by myself) and explore the Austin Aquarium.
My main mode of transportation in Austin is the bus, so it was an adventure all on its own to have to take two buses for about 45 minutes each.
As we approached the Austin Aquarium, I felt like a kid again. I got really giddy and happy. I absolutely love zoos and aquariums, but the Austin Zoo is way too far for me to take by bus.

When I got there, I expected for it to be a typical aquarium, where you just walk around and admire the animals. But, it was almost completely interactive. You could touch the starfish and corals, stingrays, fish, and sharks, but there was still closed tanks. It was amazing. To be honest, I was really scared to touch the stingrays and sharks even though they were not big or completely dangerous looking.
There just happened to be a Half Price Books right next to the aquarium, and it made me so happy. I got lost with the books and knick-knacks, and I bought a few books to add to my library. Among those was two by my favorite poet Charles Bukowski, "Tales of Ordinary Madness" and "The Most Beautiful Woman in Town."
After my exploration ended, I took another two buses back to campus and went to my first ever UT Men's Basketball game. We played against West Virginia, and won with a final score of 88-71.
Needless to say, it was an amazing day. I encourage everyone to go on adventures (even if its by yourself) and spend your money on experiences, or find things to experience without having to spend any money at all!
