Last Weekend In Austin

Well, this semester was full of amazing experiences. I learned so much, not only in my classes but in the adventures that I went on.

You don't truly know how strong and independent you can be until you live by yourself away from your parents. You have to learn how to be responsible, and not just in your education but in your personal and social lives as well. You have to manage your money and your time. You have to figure out ways to get everything done in a timely manner.

This past weekend was my last weekend in Austin, for a month. I'm heading back home for winter break, and I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with how this weekend turned out.

It started on Thursday, when Kim gave me an early Christmas present.

I absolutely loved the beautiful hat she got me.

Friday the 13th, a notoriously unlucky day, was actually not that bad.
I went to the Trail of Lights at Zilker Park with my boyfriend, but the trail was closed due to rain and fog. So, we decided to just browse around the food trucks that were located under the huge Christmas tree.

Although we didn't get to enjoy the beautiful Trail of Lights, we did enjoy the people who visited the Christmas tree and the cute food trucks that were under it.

Saturday was spent in Downtown Austin.
Rigo, a close friend of mine whom I went to high school with, came to Austin from A&M College Station, so him, a couple of other friends and I went to eat at Coal Vines, an Italian restaurant on 2nd Street.

They have AMAZING garlic bread. The food itself was great. The ambiance of the restaurant is very relaxing. It was my second time there this semester, and it was just as good as the first time.
Plus, it's a great place to get a fancy dinner feel for an inexpensive price.

I came home to find out one of my friends from high school, Efrain, was in Austin, so we met up with him and hung out in my dorm room.

Sunday, Kim came back from her Drum Corps camp, so a couple of friends got together to hang out in her apartment.

Now, It's Monday and I'm going home tomorrow.
It's so sad to be leaving my home here in Austin, but I'll be back in a month.

Start of Semester Dorm Decor
End of Semester Dorm Decor
Looking at the initial photo of my dorm room, and comparing it to how it looks now, I can see how much I've grown. Over the course of the semester I kept adding stuff to my bulletin board, whether it be pictures or little items that have a meaningful memory behind them. It's great to see how much they have compiled and how my bulletin board (and wall) decor has expanded and grown, just as much as I have grown.

This semester was nothing like I would have expected it to be. I had so much fun, I met so many people and made so many memories. I'm glad my final weekend in Austin was a relaxing, but unforgettable one.
